The Seven Fights Couples Have

Title: The Seven Fights Couples Have [1/8]
Author: vichy1
Pairing: Frank/Gerard
Rating: R
Disclaimer: They are not mine
Summary: There are seven fights all couples have.

Author Note: This was inspired by an article in my cosmo. I never thought I'd see the day they inspired me, but it has brought me out of my writing lull!

The IKEA Fight

It had started out well.

Frank and Gerard had decided that this Saturday would finally be the day that they took the hour long journey out to IKEA to pick out new furniture for the apartment they had lived in for three months now. They had been living amongst the furniture they had each collected over the years, and decided long ago that the best thing for them to do would be to buy new furniture to go with the new apartment.

After five months of dating and spending every possible second together, Gerard had asked Frank if he would like to move in with him as his lease was up on the place he was currently at and he was looking at relocating, but only if Frank was coming with him. Frank had considered this for exactly one week before leaving a potted fern on Gerard’s doorstop with a note saying it was for the new place. The fern had only lasted three days.
Moving in together had been a huge step forward in their relationship and both had agreed that with this new stage in their life it was only fitting new furniture came too.

“Ready to go?” Gerard cooed at his boyfriend who was slumped in front of the couch watching music videos with his hand resting down the front of his pants.

Frank quickly switched the television off and jumped up off the couch for what he hoped was the last time. “Just give me a minute,” he said and dashed into the bedroom at the end of the hall. Gerard waited a minute and thirty seconds before Frank came dashing back, this time in a new shirt and a bandana he had stolen from Gerard’s drawer wrapped around his wrist.

“Looking sexy,” Gerard commented, whistling for effect. Frank swung his hips exaggeratedly from side to side, throwing his arms in the air.

“You know it,” Frank replied, smacking his lips. “You are so lucky,” He gestured to his body, “that this is all yours.”

Gerard smiled at him, rolling his eyes lightly. “Let’s go.”

“I am really excited, Gee,” Frank babbled as they walked to Gerard’s car, already forming an idea of the perfect lounge room in his head. “It will be awesome to have all new furniture.”

Gerard grabbed Frank’s hand, swinging it lightly before letting go to open Frank’s door for him. “Thank you,” Frank purred.

The drive to the large furniture store was spent with Frank flicking through catalogues and pointing out pieces of furniture he liked and Gerard trying not to swerve off the road as he looked at the pictures Frank showed him. They pulled into the parking lot, exchanged a quick kiss and set off towards the large building.

“I think we need a new couch the most, then everything else will fall into place around that,” Gerard said, picturing his ideal room in his head.

“You can paint some pictures to go on the wall too.” Frank kicked a rock in his path. “And we can get a coffee table, so you never have to put your mugs on the floor and have me knock them over again.”

Gerard cheered. “Why haven’t we come here sooner?”

Frank shrugged as they entered through the glass automatic doors and into the spacious showroom. “Okay, we need pencils and paper!” He exclaimed, heading over to where all the items were placed for their customers convenience. “Maybe a measuring tape too,” he added, picking one up. “Trolley?”

Gerard doubted a trolley could be considered masculine and shook his head. Frank gave a shrug and clapped his hands excitedly, much to the amusement of his boyfriend and bemusement of passers by.

They entered the show room, taking particular notice of the lounge room displays to get inspiration on how to best decorate their own living room.

“You know what would be awesome, Frankie?” Gerard started, struck with a sudden idea. Frank turned to him, away from the small white lamps that were advertised at only $9.99.

“Tell me, what would be awesome, Gee?” Frank turned back and picked up one of the lamps and two bulbs, now wishing he had gone with his instincts and got a trolley. He didn’t want to carry the lamp for the whole time.

“If we had, like, fresh flowers in a vase on a coffee table every week. Flowers are awesome, they add such amazing ambience.”

Frank looked at Gerard skeptically. “Why don’t we just get fake ones? I know I can’t be bothered picking up flowers every week. Plus, fake ones will be cheaper in the long run and they have that whole added benefit of not dying. That’s pretty awesome.”

“You are so lazy, Frank,” Gerard sighed before eyeing the lamp. “What’s that?”

“A lamp?” Frank thought it was fairly obvious what the object was.

Gerard rolled his eyes and huffed. “I know what it is, Frank, I meant what it is doing in your hands?”

“Well,” Frank started slowly, as this was obviously not one of Gerard’s best days. “We didn’t get a trolley at the door, so in order for me to be able to purchase this exquisite-“

“Frank,” Gerard interrupted, rather rudely. “Don’t be stupid, why do we want that lamp?”

Frank held it up next to his face and fluttered his eyelashes. “Because it’s pretty?” He hoped holding the lamp up next to the face Gerard proclaimed to love would make him see sense. Or at least be so blinded by Frank’s beauty that he agreed to anything.

“It’s fucking ugly.”

Two parents walking nearby scowled at Gerard, huffing indignantly as they pulled their two young children away from the vicinity of the cursing man.

“Your fucking ugly,” Frank retaliated maturely. Gerard gave him a look- which basically consisted of him raising his eyebrows and using his eyes to communicate that he thought Frank was being ridiculous- and turned away, continuing to follow the arrows through the showroom.

Frank felt a surge of annoyance and resignedly put the lamp back before stomping after Gerard who was now standing in front of the ugliest red couch Frank had ever seen.

Gerard noticed Frank next to him and reached an arm out and pulled him close, kissing him on the top of his head. Gerard stared at his boyfriend for a few moments, wanting nothing more then to kiss him properly in that moment before turning away and gesturing to the couch in front of him. “It’s beautiful.”

Frank was suddenly very worried Gerard had a distorted view on what beauty was, and wondered if maybe he was actually really quite ugly as Gerard seemed to find him beautiful also. He could not believe Gerard was using the same word he sometimes used to describe Frank as he was to this couch.

“Stunning,” Frank said sarcastically before moving on to examine a white couch that had caught his eye. “Hey, Gerard, look at this one.”

Gerard managed to drag his eyes on the red couch he was so fixated on to see the one Frank was pointing at. “It’s white,” he stated.

“I noticed that, babe,” Frank replied, sitting himself down on the couch to try it out. He thumped the seat next to him, indicating for Gerard to join him which he did, rather begrudgingly. “Can’t you just imagine us snuggling together late at night?”

Frank put an arm around Gerard’s shoulder, attempting to pull him closer to create the nights he dreamt of having on the white couch. Gerard looked down at the white couch and then at the hand on his shoulder.

“It’s nice…if you like white I guess.”

“It just so happens I like white. I like it quite a lot.”

Gerard groaned. “You’re being difficult today, why are you being difficult?”

Frank leaned his head back on the white couch and covered his face with both of his hands. “I’m not,” he moaned, beginning to realize that maybe this shopping trip really wasn’t such a great idea and it would probably save their relationship if they were to just hire an interior decorator that could make these decisions for them.

“You are,” Gerard insisted, standing up and folding his arms. Frank recognised this as Gerard’s dominant stance, the one he’d assume whenever Frank wouldn’t let him get his way. Which wasn’t often, as Frank was all about what made Gerard happy, except when it required him to be a complete pushover. Frank was most definitely not a pushover, especially when Gerard was being stupidly stubborn.

“Well if I am then so are you!” Frank retorted, glaring at him as he absently pulled a thread on his Dickies. “I don’t want a stupid red couch.”

“It’s not stupid!” Gerard insisted. “Its better then a boring white couch!”

“I don’t want a red couch.”

Gerard frowned at him and stalked away.

Frank glared at his retreating figure, deciding on the spot he would not go chasing after his little drama queen and would instead look at some other couches while he was here. He stood up from the white couch- which was a tad uncomfortable if he was being honest, not that he’d ever admit that to Gerard- and looked around, glancing briefly at all the couches until a black one in the corner caught his eye. He threw a glance over his shoulder to see if his boyfriend was around and when he didn’t see him, made his way to the black couch.

Upon closer inspection Frank could see it was actually leather and after sitting down on it, he discovered it was supremely comfortable. He sighed, wishing that shopping at IKEA couldn’t be likened to a trip to the dentist and that going and actually getting Gerard would be like having teeth pulled.

He folded his arms over the arm rest and buried his head in them, wishing that he had never encouraged this idea. After a few moments of wallowing, Frank felt someone sit down next to him and a hand gently rest on his back. He lifted his head to see Gerard looking at him with a small smile and huge apologetic eyes.

“Frankie, I’m really sorry for being such an asshole before, and I just want you to know-“ Gerard stopped mid sentence and bounced experimentally in his seat. He looked at Frank with a curious expression. “This thing is really comfy.”

Frank nodded in agreement and sat up properly.

“No, I mean, it’s like really comfortable,” Gerard stressed, now running the hand that wasn’t on Frank’s back over the parts of the couch he could reach.

“I know, it is comfortable. Pretty attractive too.”

Gerard ran his hand over the arm rest. “Yeah, it is…um, speaking of attractive,” Gerard turned to Frank, stopping running his hand over the couch and instead took both of Frank’s hand’s with his. “I really am sorry.”

Gerard looked so sincere and anxious that Frank couldn’t help give his hands a little squeeze back and shrug. “It’s okay, but behave like that again you better hope we’ve got a nice couch because you’ll be spending some serious time on it.”

Gerard tusked under his breath and leant forward, planting a soft kiss on Frank’s lips. “Do you like this couch?”

Frank nodded. “Definitely, “he said.

“Do you want to get this couch?” Gerard asked shyly. Frank suspected he was conscious of his question being perceived as him being pushy again and leaped on Gerard in response. Gerard was slightly bewildered for a second, but caught Frank in his arms and dragged him on his lap and asked, “Is that a yes? I think it’s a yes, but I can’t be sure.”

“It’s a yes,” Frank said happily and pecked Gerard’s cheek. “It’s the couch of my dreams.”

“The couch of you dreams, huh?”

“Totally. I’ve always seen myself a black leather man,” Frank said seriously.

The rest of the IKEA trip was spent happily choosing furniture, measuring the length of different items and scribbling down letters and numbers with the short pencil the store provided. By the time Gerard and Frank walked out hand in hand, they both felt an immense sense of satisfaction and much closer to each other.

“Baby, let’s not go out tonight, lets stay in and eat dinner on our new table before making out on our new couch and then adjourn to the new bed for…you know,” Gerard proposed, swinging their hands lightly.

Frank looked at him in surprise. “Really? Tonight’s the night you always meet up with the guys, you never miss that.”

Gerard leaned over and kissed his cheek, not worrying about the families that might be around them and the over protective parents who might currently be going into a meltdown over the display.

“I just want to be with you tonight,” he insisted, stopping still all of a sudden and wrenching Frank towards him, before wrapping his arms around the smaller man. Frank had never felt so content in his life.

Frequent Flier

Title: Frequent Flier [1/?]
Author: vichy1
Pairing: Frank/Gerard
Rating: R
Disclaimer: Do not own, do not sue.
Summary: Gerard was a common presense in the skies. A successful business man with a reputation as a "Ice King." He meets a certain flight attendent that melts his heart, and becomes a person he never wanted to be. Obsessed.
Author's Note: I'm not going to lie, updates will probably be infrequent. This is somewhat of a side project.

“Have a pleasant flight sir,” the overly cheery woman said to me with a smile and handing over my boarding pass. I merely nodded at her and picked my briefcase of the floor, making my way back through the madness of the check-in counters. There was line after line of people, waiting impatiently for their turn to speak to the women with the cheery disposition, so that they could rid themselves of their heavy baggage and spend another hour waiting for the plane.

The line for the security check was not overly long, filled mostly with elderly couples on their way to Florida, families looking forward to Disneyland and business men. Like me. People on their way to another state and city to do their job because they were so good that it was a crime to have them confined to just one state. The companies would jump at the chance to send them away, proud to have such a fine member of their “team” representing them and doing their reputation proud. I was one of those people who would be sent around the country on a weekly basis. I worked for a large advertising firm that had several large offices across America. I worked from head office, and it was my responsibility to pay visits to all the firms to ensure that they were on the right track and provide guidance wherever necessary.

I handed my briefcase over to the security officer in front of me who immediately asked me if I was carrying any sharp objects on me such as scissors or nail clippers. I shook my head no and walked through the metal detector, bracing myself and sighing in relief when it didn’t go off. It was never a fun moment when the loud shrill sounded through the air. I collected my briefcase from the end of the conveyor belt, it also having successfully passed the security test and made my way up the escalator and into the terminal to wait for my plane.

I scanned the list of flights departing and found my flight to Washington was departing from gate 22 in 45 minutes. I set of in the direction of gate 22, knowing my way around the airport easily from all my previous flying experiences. I sat down in the waiting lounge of gate 22, purposely picking a seat that was away from the family of four with two grumpy children and pulled out my laptop so that I could at least use the time constructively.
I took a glance around the waiting lounge as my computer fired up, nodding briefly at a few men who I recognized as regular fliers like myself. We had an unspoken bond, bought together through our Armani suits and abnormally large amount of frequent flier miles.

I tapped away at my laptop, beginning to reply to the many emails I received and never seemed to have enough time to see to. It was tiresome and slightly boring but had to be done.

I glanced up after a while to see the plane that would fly me away to Washington slipping into its designated spot and coming to a rest. Looking at my watch I realized that half an hour had already passed by quite quickly. The familiar sound of the flight attendants small suitcases rolling along the floor caught my attention and I turned my head to watch the immaculately groomed bunch make their way to the plane.

“Holy shit,” I breathed out slowly, as one in particular caught my eye. He was gorgeous, laughing easily with another air hostess as they followed the rest towards gate 22. His black hair was perfectly styled and cut, combed to perfection with not a hair out of place. The navy blazer he wore that bore the American Airlines logo suited his figure perfectly and the crisp white shirt that was worn underneath only added to his sophisticated appearance. His matching navy pants were well ironed with a perfect crease and little polished black shoes covered his feet. His was a walking vision of perfection.

They stopped just before the glass door to the air walk, letting the passengers from the flight that had just landed disembark. He continued talking to the blond haired flight attendant, who hung off his every word and laughed at his every joke. Judging by the number of times she laughed, he must have been a very funny person. To my extreme disappointment they soon all disappeared behind the glass door and down the air walk, completely out of sight.

My disappointment was soon forgotten (along with my emails) when I realized that he was on my flight. HE was on MY flight. I was going to be stuck in a small cabin high up in the sky for the next three hours with him. I could only hope that he would was placed in the first class section, because that’s where I was sitting. Otherwise I think I would just about swap my first class ticket for an economy one. I took a glance at the screaming children. Maybe I wouldn’t swap my ticket, but I would sure as hell be disappointed.

I never believed in love at first sight, but lust at first sight was always possible. And with this guy, I was head over heels in lust.

I packed up my laptop, placing it back into my briefcase and snapping it shut. I seriously hoped that none of the other business men had noticed my sudden lack of class, drooling over some flight attendant like he was a stripper at a club. I had a reputation to uphold, I was known as the “Ice King”. Completely ruthless in my approach, yet undeniably brilliant.

An announcement over the intercom told me, and my fellow passengers, that my plane was now ready for boarding. That announcement was met with differing responses. Some people instantly jumped up and ran over to the desk, others, like me, were content to let the masses board knowing that we were all going to get on eventually. I lazily joined the back of the line, the rest of the business men in the lounge taking that as their cue to join as well. I handed over my boarding pass when it was my turn, smiling quickly at the woman on the desk and made my way down the air walk towards the plane.

I felt my insides light up with I saw my hot flight attendant patiently directing everyone to their seats, managing to charm them completely in the process with a simple wink and a ‘enjoy your flight’. I breathed out slowly, willing myself to keep my cool and not act like a complete dork in front of him. I threw my shoulders back and held my head up high, exerting a confidence I did not feel.

He smiled at me as I approached him for my turn, handing him my pass. I took the opportunity to take a closer look at him as he glanced down at my ticket. He was even better up close. He had perfect, smooth skin, a cute little nose and plump pink lips which my eyes lingered greedily on until I realized that they were smiling at me once more, showing each of his white shiny teeth.

“Your one of the lucky ones,” he said with a grin whilst I nearly died upon hearing him speak. “First class. Straight through the curtain and your seat is just on the left.” I nodded mutely, transfixed by his voice but made no motion to move. A curious look briefly flashed on his face and he awkwardly cleared his throat to get my attention. I flushed a shade of pink when I realized I had just been standing there, stopping him from directing the rest of the passengers, some of whom were giggling softly to themselves. I composed myself within seconds, noticing everyone was either looking at me strangely or laughing. I shot them all a glare and started down the small aisle to my seat, too embarrassed to look at the hot flight attendant again.

I found my seat with ease, completely used to the order of numbers that the seats went in and slid into it, preferring not to put my briefcase in the overhead luggage with everyone else’s things. It could just as easily fit under the seat in front of me, so why go to the hassle of putting it all the way up there only to bring it down again five minutes later?

I settled back into the leather seat, crossing my ankles and looking out the window, wincing as the baggage handlers literally threw the suitcases onto the conveyer belt for them to disappear into the large plane.

“Sir?” A voice interrupted my transfixed stare at watching the baggage handlers. I looked up to see the hot flight attendant looking down at me, leaning his body slightly over the free seat that was next to me. “Could you please fasten your seat belt? The plane will be ready to taxi soon.”

With a brief forced smile he continued his way down the aisle, checking everyone else was properly fastened. I looked around, noticing that everyone was now on board the plane and already fastened their belts. I really was out of it today, I wondered if I would even be able to remember my own name. Even that seemed unlikely, based upon my current mental state. I stole another glance out the window, watching as they took away the convey belt and all the little men walked away from the plane.

It was funny how small they looked from up here, even though shortly they would look a hell of a lot smaller.

“Sir! Your belt!” I looked up again to see Mr. Hot Flight Attendant looking down at me once more, the exasperation in his voice evident this time.

“What am I going to do with you?” He questioned with a laugh, placing his hands on his hips as I meekly did my seat belt up, feeling completely stupid for forgetting a second time.

“Sorry,” I whispered, not being able to quite meet his eyes. It was rare that I felt this intimidated, usually the roles were reversed. But, in front of this man, I felt completely under his power.

“Good boy,” He praised, like he was talking to a four year old. “Now pay attention to the safety demonstration. It just might save your life one day.” With a wag of his finger he was gone again, to find more naughty passengers who were yet to obey the instructions.

I sighed and sat back in my seat. I was totally doing the opposite of impressing him. If anything, he would be completely un-impressed. I mused over ways and things I could do to impress him. I only had a short amount of time left, but if I had my way, we would be joining the mile high club in a short amount of time.
